What makes us who we are?
The diversity and inclusivity of our community is our strength. Our students, parents, alumni and staff come from over 50 different countries and share the values of open-mindedness and mutual respect while celebrating the uniqueness that makes us who we are. They are people from all walks of life who share a passion for shaping the future of education.
At the core of our school are our principles and traditions. The values of curiosity, courage, confidence, and community are instilled in our students from a young age, shaping the interactions and relationships within our school, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding. These values not only lead our educational approach but also create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We take pride in the partnership between our teachers, parents and students, that extends beyond the classroom. Through close collaboration and regular feedback, we work together to provide the best learning experiences and achieve positive outcomes for every student in our care.
Events and activities
Regular events and activities, such as lively fairs, sports days, and enriching cultural celebrations, provide opportunities for the entire community to come together.
These gatherings promote unity and allow everyone to celebrate their achievements, both academic and personal. They also serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents and interests, boosting their confidence and encouraging further exploration and growth.
Coffee mornings are a treasured tradition, offering our parents a warm and welcoming space. These gatherings provide a unique opportunity to come into the school and participate in insightful presentations led by our dedicated school staff or external experts. Covering a wide range of topics from education and child raising to current trends and global matters, these sessions are designed to keep our parents informed and inspired.
It's a chance to meet fellow parents, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful conversations with school staff in an informal setting.
Our annual International Day is a vibrant and enriching event that brings together students, parents, and staff to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures within our community. This special day goes beyond our daily interactions with diverse cultures, languages, and beliefs, offering a deeper dive into the traditions and customs of our global family.
From tantalising food stalls offering dishes from around the world to captivating performances featuring traditional dances and music, the day is a feast for the senses. Parents and students come together to present their heritage, sharing stories, artifacts, and customs that reflect their backgrounds.
Events at St.George’s School not only enhance our understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures but also strengthen our sense of community. These are essential moments filled with joy and learning, where we celebrate our differences and commonalities in a truly inclusive environment.
Celebrating achievements
At the end of the school year, our prize-giving ceremonies celebrate the remarkable achievements of pupils from both Lower School and Secondary School.
Awards are presented to students who exemplify our four core values – curiosity, courage, confidence and community - recognising those who truly embody these principles in their everyday actions. Additionally, we honour exceptional athletes with sports prizes and avid readers with awards that acknowledge their dedication and enthusiasm. These prize-giving events not only highlight individual accomplishments but also reinforce the importance of character and commitment in our school community.
Celebrating individual and group achievements is integral to fostering a positive and motivating educational environment. It supports our students' emotional well-being, drives motivation, and contributes to building our thriving school community where every student feels valued and encouraged to excel.
Parent representatives
Parents are integral to the school community, and their active involvement fosters a strong connection between home and school, creating a more cohesive and supportive environment for students.
Our parent representatives play a vital role in the St.George’s School community, acting as a bridge between families and the school administration. They ensure parents' voices are heard in decision-making processes and provide valuable insights during regular meetings with school leaders. By facilitating effective communication and fostering a collaborative environment, they help parents feel actively involved in their children's education.
Additionally, parent representatives ensure a smooth transition for new families, helping them feel valued, included, and at home within the school community. Through organising social events, supporting school activities, and addressing parental concerns, they significantly enhance the sense of community and partnership within the school. Their contributions create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, benefiting students, parents, and staff, and enriching the overall educational experience.
A safe and inclusive environment
Creating a safe and inclusive environment is paramount for our thriving school community. It is essential that every member feels valued and respected.
We have policies, practices, cultural awareness and support services that promote inclusivity, ensuring that diversity is celebrated and every community member has the opportunity to succeed.
Beyond the school walls
We value our relationship with our neighbours and strive to foster positive communication between school and the local community. We are proud to give back to society and invest in the partnerships, resources and skills to make a difference.
The sense of belonging and togetherness we develop among students, staff and families does not end when community members move on. We continue to support our alumni as they start their adult lives. St.George’s will always be a place they can return to, and we value our connection and the wonderful friendships and working relationships forged at our school.
